Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment
and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed
to falling loads:
(a) Jobsite, Claysville, PA:  Employees were exposed to the hazard of
falling loads while installing a
manufactured home onto a foundation.  On May 1, 2001, three employees were
rolling a manufactured
home onto a foundation when the home shifted and pinned two employees.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS
HAZARD IS TO:
Develop a job procedure that specifically outlines the sequence of events,
methods and tools to be used when
rolling a manufactured home.  This includes, but is not limited to, the
use of winches and rollers and;
Increase the length of the cribbing planks and provide training to
employees
on how to properly crib the home
while placing the home on the rollers and onto foundations.
