Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads: (a) Buildings A & B; The following deficiencies existed with the steel frame racks: (1) The racks were not anchored or bolted to the floor to prevent movement. (2) Locking pins were missing from several shelves on racks in Buildings A and B. (3) Some of the racks were not equipped with plaques showing the load capacities of the racks. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to: (1) Anchor or bolt the steel racks as required to the floor to prevent movement of the racks. (2) Replace the locking pins that are missing from the racks. (3) Install plaques showing the load capacities of the racks.ties
