Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Pet/Wax Department (at pump #324): The line was not tested and examined to verify the effectiveness of the lid's safety device. A bolt was used to hold the Viking strainer basket lid in place was missing. When an employee turned the air valve on the lid came off and hot oil, wax and water sprayed onto the employee, burning him.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Pet/Wax Department (at pump #324): Appropriate hardware for securing strainer lids were missing. A bolt was missing from the Viking strainer basket lid on a product line. As a result, when an employee turned on an air valve, the strainer basket lid came off and hot wax, oil and water sprayed the employee.
