North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish
each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of
employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to the possibility of unsafe overhead
hoists:
a)facility -- employees were using two 5 ton overhead
Coffin, floor operated, electric hoists mounted on DMAC
bridges, to lift up to 5,000 lb. sections of steel.
Frequent and periodic inspections were not performed on
the hoists. (ASME B30.17A Sec. 17-2.1.1(b).
One feasible and acceptable method, among others, is to
perform the required inspections in accordance with ASME
B30.17A Sec. 17-2.1.1(b).
