Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of
Maryland.  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to
employees:
(a)Date of Violation:12/22/99
Location:Tipping Floor
Condition:While solid waste was being unloaded from trucks, pushed into
piles
and loaded into rail cars with a front end loader, employees on the
tipping floor were exposed to moving equipment.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to stop
operations while employees are on the tipping floor, install a visible
warning system to signal
truck drivers and equipment operators that employees are on the floor, and
to maintain radio
contact between all employees.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training
certification, etc.) is required for this item.
