Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to: Falling loads, when the wire rope clips at the wedge and socket connection, located at the load block were either missing or installed improperly on three different cranes, which could cause the wedge to dislodge from the socket. One feasible and acceptable method would be to place a wire rope clip around the dead of the line by clamping a short piece of wire rope of the same diameter, to the tail. Location: Inside of building at 892 River Street, Boston, MA The employees were exposed to possible falling loads while working with three different cranes, where the wire rope clips at the wedge and socket connection located at the load block, were either missing or installed improperly.
