existance of cracking in areas of high stress concentration. The calendar
rolls used in the
paper machines have been in service for up to approximately 30 years and
are only
removed periodically (8-12 months) for polishing.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is conduct non-destructive testing of the rolls when they are
periodically removed
for polishing.ly
