ORS654.010: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was safe and healthful for employees, and did not do every other thing reasonably necessary to protect the life, safety, and health of the employees: (a) The employer did not take all reasonable means to ensure the safety of the operator of the D7 dozer/cat while building a fire trail on steep terrain ranging from 58 up to 84, approximately 144 feet in length to help contain the wild land/forest fire. The operator had made it down the hill approximately 114 feet, started to back up, started to slide sideways, causing the dozer/cat to roll, resulting in serious injury of the operator on 9-22-99. THIS VIOLATION WAS COMPLIED WITH AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION.ly
