Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the service station - the hose for dispensing diesel fuel had leakage
between the coupling and
the nozzle was not in good operating conditions, having a continuos flow
of the combustible
liquid, it had to be mannualy operated in order to close the nozzle handle.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is
to inmmediately change the hose and implement a preventive maintenance,
for leakage,
deterioration and operating conditions for the hose and nozzle.
Hazard: Spillage of a combustible liquid may create a fire hazard,
resulting in burns and other
injuries.
En la estacion de servicio - la manga para despachar diesel tenia
filtraciones entre las uniones
y el pistero no estaba en buenas condiciones operacionales, la cual tenia
un flujo continuo del
liquido combustible, tenia que ser operada manualmente de manera que se
pueda cerrar el
pistero.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable para disminuir y
corregir este riesgo es
cambiar inmediatamente la manga e implantar un mantenimiento preventivo,
para filtraciones,
deterioro y condiciones operacionales de la manga y pistero.
Riesgo: Derrame de un liquido combustible podria crear un riesgo de fuego,
resultando en
quemaduras y otras lesiones.s
