General Duty Clause
The employer did not furnish each of it's employees employment and a place
of
employment which was free from recognized hazards that are causing or were
likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to its employees and which will provide
reasonable and
adequate protection to the lives, safety or health of it's employees in
that employees were
exposed to the hazard of physical injury during the performance of their
assigned work
activities without a program addressing working in and around the MRI
environment which
was not clearly stipulated in writing, not communicated to affected staff
or reviewed.
(a)Westchester County Medical Center
(1) Establish written procedures for the placement and use of
equipment in and around the MRI environment;
(2) Assure that the policy is communicated to all affected employees;
(3) Assure that the policy is followed by Affected Employees.
The Inspector detailed the General Duty Clause violation that would be
issued as a
result of the inspection conducted on August 10, 2001.
Methods of abatement and the abatement date were discussed.
The closing conference was concluded as there were no questions or
comments for the
Inspector.
