Code of Virginia, Section 40.1-51.1.A: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards and pinch points created by movable metal hoppers (material container) positioned immediately next to the spindle drill metal tables: Finishing Department: Employee operating spindle drill placed right hand on the corner of spindle drill table. As the metal hopper was raised, the corner of hopper bin contacted the metal spindle drill table resulting in amputation of employee's right hand little finger.
