40.1-51.1(a) of the Code of Virginia:  Barr Marine Products Co., did not
furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free of recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious physical harm
to employees in that employees were operating a 150 lbs. Budget air
powered chain hoist, and, a 250 lbs. Gorbel air
powered chain hoist, which exposed them to:
(a) Contusions and abrasions by not providing labels on the up and down
controls of the chain hoists.  Among other
methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this
hazard would be to provide labels to indicate up
and down controls such as that called for by ANSI B16-2.1.1.2, American
National Standard Safety Code for Electric
or Air Powered Hoists.
