General-duty citation text
40.1-51.1(a) of the Code of Virginia: Mid Atlantic Trailer Mfg., Inc., did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were operating a AFM Fab Tech hydraulic press brake, which is located in the brake and shear room, which exposed them to: (a) Amputations by not having the point of operation guarded so that employees are not exposed while cutting material. Materials range from 6' in width to 4" to 5" in width. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a point of operation guard such as that called for by ANSI B11.3-1982, American National Standard Safety Code for Power Press Brakes.
