were exposed to being crushed by a falling automotive lift while working
underneath:
a) Bay Area - Mechanics were servicing automobiles on Rotary automobile
lifts that had swing
arm lock devices and were not inspected on a periodic basis.
Feasible and useful abatement methods for eliminating these hazards
include, but are not limited
to the following:
2)Insure all lifts are periodically inspected on a recurring basis by a
qualified inspector who is
qualified to perform these inspections through experience in installation
or field service work
for users, manufactures, distributors or service organizations for
automotive lift products.
(4)Insure that lift operators are instructed in the safe use and operation
of the lift.
