industrial truck and
the ground:
a) Washington & Essex Streets - 175 Warren Street, Jersey City, NJ;
An employee riding on the side of a powered industrial truck was exposed
to the hazard of
falling and being run over by the machine while it was in motion.
Some feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, to correct
this hazard are the
following:
1) The employer must ensure that each powered industrial truck operator
successfully completes
the required operator training and evaluation as outlined in 29 CFR
1910.178.
2) The employer must comply with ANSI B56.1-1969 , Safety Standard for
Powered Industrial
Trucks.
3) The employer must ensure compliance with the powered industrial truck
manufacturers
recommendations for the safe use and operation of that equipment.
