Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that:
(a)On, or prior to December 20, 2001, employees were exposed to
a crushing hazard while working underneath a GMC-Ciera 3500
utility truck that was inadequately supported and secured while in
an elevated position and was located at a construction jobsite on
1342 E. Wisconsin Avenue, Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
One, or more acceptable feasible abatement methods could be achieved by
the following:
SAFETY STANDARD FOR JACKS (American National Standard Institute
ANSI-B30.1): Safety
Code for Jacks. Type of Jack, Section 301.
Provision of a jack which was chosen for the contemplated work.
Certification, and documentation/evidence of abatement is required.
Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be
submitted within ten (10)
calendar days after the abatement date.
