Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)Agua Caliente Casino, east side - An employee in a Snorkel SL25 scissor
lift was
observed standing on the midrail to gain additional height.  He was
wearing a fall
harness which was attached to the toprail of the scissor lift.  The
practice of standing on
the midrail is prohibited by the manufacturer because it is a recognized
tipping hazard.
On or about 11/02/00.
ABATEMENT NOTE:
Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to:
Train all employees to follow national consensus standard ANSI/SIA A92.6
and
manufacturer's operator's manual.
