Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employer did not perform a hazard analysis which would identify, evaluate and control the hazards involved in handling wastes and residues associated with small scale production: Small Scale Production Lab: On or about 6/14/2000, an employee was injuried when chemicals added to a waste container reacted and caused an explosion. A feasible means of abatement includes, but is not limited to obtaining information on chemical reactivity, flash point and other properties prior to using and disposing of them.
