Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and lacerating hazards resulting from the failure to implement a program of maintenance, testing and inspection for amusement rides and devices. a) Russel park, Church street, Carbondale, Pa: Three to four employees were exposed to crushing and laceration hazards resultant from the failure of the spreader bar anchor pins on the Sweep and A-frame of "The Sky Diver" during erection activities. One feasible and useful method of abatement is to follow the Standard Practice for Maintenance Procedures for Amusement Rides and Devices, ASTM Standard F853, which is recognized and recommended by Chance Rides, Inc. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
