Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of being struck by or falling from a collapsing wood roof truss system, in that, the trusses at the construction site were not adequately braced to prevent collapse on or about 4/28/00. On 4/28/00, a roof truss erection plan was not in effect for this installation of the 52 foot long trusses in that: size 8 nails were used to secure temporary bracing which consisted of 25 inch long 1" x 4"'s. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard was to install trusses in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute, Inc.'s "Bracing Wood Trusses, BWT-76". On or about 4/28/00, at worksite, a)Six employees were exposed to being struck by or falling from collapsing wooden roof trusses due to not installing wooden roof trusses in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute, Inc., "Bracing Wood Trusses, BWT-76". ABATEMENT VERIFICATION REQUIRED AT TIME OF ABATEMENT DATE
