Section 50-9-5(A), NMSA 1978 (New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Act): Every employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees. The employees in the metal bending area located between the compressor building and welding shop are exposed to struck by/caught between hazards resulting from the over head hoist not having periodic and regular inspections. One feasible and acceptable abatement method includes but is not limited to complete inspections being performed at one to twelve month intervals as specified in Section 16-2.2.1.3 of the American National Standards Institute/American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ANSI/ASME) Standards B30.16-1973, Overhead Hoists or as specified by the manufacturer.
