Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Employees were exposed to hazards associated with falls while working from the bucket of a back hoe. Employees were installing conduit to an overhead sign bridge while standing inside of the bucket of the 310E John Deere back hoe. This condition exposed employees to fall potential of approximately 10 feet. a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use a lift with the appropriate guard rails.
