Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of: Being struck by or crushed by the rotating rear of the superstructure of the Soil Mec R-312 HD, ID 1428, Drilling Rig, at the Trout Creek Bike Path Bridge site, on or about March 23, 2000. a) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to limit rotation of the drill rig to prohibit the rear of the superstructure from swinging over the shaft opening and to barricade accessible areas within the swing radius of the rear of the rotating superstructure in such a manner as to prevent an employee from being struck or crushed, on or about 03/23/00.
