Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to crushing and struck-by hazards from the wire rope parting and breaking on cranes and other equipment. One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to provide training and instructions, conducted by a person knowledgeable in the use of wire rope and rigging for any and all employees required to use and/or install wire rope.Ensure that all inspections, adjustments and repairs are made by designated personal only as required by the American National Standards Institute.(A.N.S.I)B30.5 1989 5-2.3.3. Additional abatement information is required for this item.
