Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: In Department 8894, Grader Tire Build Area, employees were exposed to the explosive separation of the wheel components while mounting tubeless tires on multi-piece (three piece) grader rims and the employer did not ensure that the employees were protected from the hazards during the operation. Among other methods, feasible and effective means of abatement to correct this hazard can be to provide a restraining device or other protective system in order to protect employees during inflation, inspection, and insertion of the valve core, update the product and process specifications and safe job procedures, and providing training to all employees on the hazards and operating procedures to be followed. ***THIS ITEM REQUIRES DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT***
