Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a.  Receive serious fingers injuries at cut point ( 3/8 inches from
fingers) of band saw
trademark Powermatic, model 141, used by employees to cut winding sticks
at 45.5
inches approximately from floor level with the following machine numbers:
a. #1
(001219), b. #2 (001220), c. #3 (001218), d. #4 (001217), e. #5 (001216),
f.
#6
(001213), g. #7 (001214), and h. #8 (001215). The machines were located in
production
area, south-east side. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable
abatement
method to correct this hazard is provide the appropriate hand feeding tool
wihtout finger
exposition at the point of operation.
a.  Recibir serias lesiones en dedos en punto de corte ( 3/8 pulgadas de
distancia de los
dedos) en sierra de banda, marca Powermatic, modelo 141, usada por los
empleados para
cortar palo de embobinado a 45 pulgadas aproximadamente desdes el nivel
del piso en
las maquinas con los siguientes numeros de identificacion: a. #1 (001219),
b. #2
(001220), c. #3 (001218), d. #4 (001217), e. #5 (001216), f. #6 (001213),
g. #7
(001214), and h. #8 (001215). Las maquinas estaban localizadas en el area
de
produccion, lado sudeste. Entre otros metodos, un metodo aceptable y
posible para
corregir este riesgo es proveer una herramienta manual apropiada para
alimentar la
maquina sin que haya exposicion de los dedos en punto de operacion.
