Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a. Receive serious injuries due to failure of the two hand trip/control
device.  An
employee was cleaning a heat transfer press and the transfer piston
continued moving
down after the two hand trip/control device was released, pinching the
employee's finger.
The machine was located at the injection molding area.  One feasible and
acceptable
abatement method to correct this hazard is to implement training  and
communicate
effectively the periodically user and preventive maintenance program.
a. Recibir serias lesiones debido a fallos en el dispositivo de dos manos.
Un empleado
estaba limpiando una prensa de transferencia de calor y el piston de
transferencia
continuo moviendose luego de soltar el dispositivo de seguridad de ambas
manos,
pinchando un dedo del empleado.  La maquina estaba localizada en el area
de moldeo
por inyeccion.  Un metodo aceptable y posible para corregir este riesgo es
efectuar
adiestramiento y comunicar efectivamente el programa periodico de uso y
mantenimiento
preventivo.
