Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a. Receive injuries due to  impacts or be strokes by heavy tires over 360
pounds.
Employees were exposed to serious injuries while transporting and
installing of a heavy
tire to a pick-up trademark Chevrolet, Mod.3,500 ,#566 ,plate # 607739.
During this
operation they used a piece of wood  5'long x 1'wide x 2"thickness and
push
the heavy
tire over it; or used a metal tube of 5'large and 1.5 inches diameter and
push the tire
over it. Among other method, one feasible and acceptable abatement
methods, to correct
this hazard is to use a hidroelectric service crane (auto-crane) for the
transportation an
instalation of the tire.
a. Recibir lesiones debido a impacto o golpe con una rueda de equipo
pesado que excede
las 360 Lbs. Empleados fueron expuestos a lesiones serias mientras
transportan o instalan
una rueda pesada con su aro hasta una guagua Chevrolet, Mod.3,500, #566 y
de tablilla
#607739. Durante esta operacion ellos usan un pedazo de tubo de metal de 5
pies de
largo x 1" y 1/2 de diametro y levantan la goma con el tubo o utilizando
un tablon de
5 pies largo x 1 pie ancho y 2 " de grosor y empujan la goma sobre el
tablon. Entre
otros metodos, un metodo aceptable y posible para corregir esta riesgo es
el uso de una
grua de rotacion electrica para la transportacion e instalacion de gomas.
