Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:05/04/00 Location:Throughout Shop Condition:Employees were exposed to being struck by ruptured plastic piping, in that 1" diameter, Schedule 40 PVC piping and fittings were installed from the air compressor through the shop area to distribute compressed air at 120 p.s.i.. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the PVC pipe with a proper compressed air piping system approved for this purpose. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
