SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of
recognized hazards
which may cause death or serious physical harm to his employees and comply
with this
regulation and other occupational safety and health rules and regulations
promulgated under
Chapter 15 of Title 41, Code of Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as
amended,
as
follows:
A.  Employer knew or should have known that employees working beside car
lying on its
side, on or about January 2, 2001, on the Dunbar and Boyles Road jobsite
was exposed to
the hazard of the car falling and crushing employees.  A feasible and
useful mean of
abatement, among others, is to secure car using a crane, place car inside
a secured cage or
securely block car with proper jack stands or bracing.
B.  Employer knew or should have known that employees using axes to knock
holes in car
tank on the Dunbar and Boyles Road jobsite, on or about January 2, 2001,
was exposed to
the hazard of the fuel tank exploding and employees being burn.  A
feasible and useful mean
of abatement, among others, is to remove the fuel tank from car or drain
fuel from tank.
