Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:06/29/00 Location:Ash Loading Area Equipment:John Deere Front End Loader, Model #544E Condition:Employees usedc the front end loader with multiple defects, and in a state of direpair of essential safety and operational functions. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to remove from service any vehicle in need of repair, follow the manufactuer's maintenance schedule, instruct operators and supervisors (and enforce) in the vehicle maintenance requirements. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
