Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injuries while emptying trash container: a) 6113 Castlegate Dr., Castle Rock, CO: On or about November 16, 2000, and times prior thereto, employees were exposed to injuries while operating the Freightliner dump truck, in that the left arm on the container attachment was bent and inoperative, the safety latch was missing off the left container handling hook, and the container handling hooks were not properly stowed when not in use. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to establish a preventative maintenance program to identify and repair damaged equipment, and to adequately identify the stowed attachment points for the container handling hooks. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
