were exposed to the hazard of vehicles moving on a conveyor in the car
wash tunnel:
1) On November 1, 2001, and at times prior thereto, employees hand washing
cars in the car
wash tunnel were exposed to the hazard of being struck by vehicles moving
on an automated
conveyor.  Emergency stops installed on the system had been inoperable for
approximately 3
weeks.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is as follows:
a) Ensure that emergency stops are always functional when cars are moving
on the automated
conveyor.
Abatement Note:  Abatement certification is not required for this item.
