Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:09/19/00 Location:Manufacturing Department Condition:The wooden platform in front of machine #10 showed various signs of structural stress as indicated by cracked and/or broken framing and supports and was visibly not plumb. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace the platform with a substantially constructed structure designed and built to withstand the conditions of its use. The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective and efficient abatement during the inspection.

Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:09/19/00 Location:Manufacturing Department Equipment:Steam Chest Molding Machine #10 Condition:Employees were exposed to thermal burns from the steam discharged from the machine at the end of the cycle. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to extend the discharge pipe into the trough. The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective and efficient abatement during the inspection.
