Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Date of Violation:11/06/00 Location:EMOC Chemical:"The hazardous material observed included but is not limited to Sodium Hydroxide". Condition:The employer did not have a fully functional eyewash station where corrosive chemical products were in use. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to supply a sufficient quantity of eyewash for a fifteen minute flush. The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective and efficient abatement during the inspection.
