Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of fire and explosion: A fire or explosion could have resulted from a blowout or other event. Employee(s) working in the derrick did not have an acceptable auxiliary means to escape in the event there was a fire or explosion in the area of the rig floor. One feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to install a geronimo line or other appropriate auxiliary means of emergency escape from the derrick. ***Certification and Documentation of Abatement Required***on
