AS 18.60.075(a)(4): An employer shall do everything necessary to protect the life, health and safety of employees including, but not limited to furnishing to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards which, in the opinion of the commissioner, are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees. EXAMPLE: ANSI/ALI ALIOM-1994 require the following: 1. Standard 4.5, automotive lifts (Benwil Ind.serial #H952351 with a broken locking arm) shall be taken out of service until repaired. 2. Standard 4.2.2, no copy of manufacturers operating manual on site. 3. Standard 4.3, no documentation of operator training. 4. Standard 5.1.1, no established periodic inspection procedures. 5. Standard 5.4, no periodic inspection documentation for the lifts. 6. Standard 6.1.1, no procedures for preventive maintenance procedures. 7. Standard 6.1.4, no preventive maintenance documentation. 8. Standard 7 does not permit an employer to make modifications to automotive lifts without the manufacturers express written permission.rs
