AS 18.60.075(a)(4):  An employer shall do everything necessary to protect
the
life, health and safety of employees including, but not limited to
furnishing to
each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free
from
recognized hazards which, in the opinion of the commissioner, are causing
or are
likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.
The American National Standard "Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes,
Derricks,
Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings" addenda to ANSI/ASME B30.9-1984 Slings
ANSI/ASME B30.9d-1989 states the following:
Chapter 9-5, Section 9-5.9--Operating Practices (e)   Sling shall be
hitched in
a manner providing control of the load.
EXAMPLE: The employer failed to secure the piling, to prevent it from
slipping
while being hoisted into position while being placed into the pile driving
chute.g
