5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer
did not furnish employment and a
place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or were likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
falling hoist parts and/or falling
loads:
a) Near Daewoo Horizontal Boring Center - The Dayton 1/2 ton jib hoist was
not kept in good repair
in that the following deficiencies were noted: (1) industry required
periodic and frequent inspections to
ensure employee safety from equipment failure were not conducted, (2) the
chain bucket and chain fell
from this hoist striking an employee.
Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is: To develop an inspection
program which meets the ANSI B30.11 frequent and periodic requirements.
Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date.  The
certification shall include a
statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and
states
employees and their
representatives were informed of this abatement.tives
