Section 88.4, Code of Iowa (1999) The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Shop Area - The automotive lift was not in proper working order as required by ANSI ALT ALOIM. Some of the requirements are: (a)Vehicle blocks were not used as required in paragraph 4.4.2. (b)The inspection procedures require in paragraph 4.4.2 had not been followed prior to daily operations. (c)Conditions were observed of a hazardous nature and the lift was not locked out until repaired as required in paragraph 4.5. (d)Checks of lift parts and deficiencies are not limited to the above listed paragraphs. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the American National Standard ALT ALOIM.
