P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by pieces of PVC piping. a) Shop area - The employer was using PVC pipes that were not shatter resistant to handle compressed air, exposing employees to struck by hazards on or about 8/20/02. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is: Install Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) pipe, that is approved for compressed air use, or encase the existing PVC pipes with a shatter resistant material(s).e-Butadiene-Styrene
