Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling load hazards. Frequent and periodic inspections have not been performed on the two (2) CM Brand,one ton capacity overhead electric hoists located in the autoclave area. Employees exposed to falling load hazards: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to have frequent and periodic inspections that is recommended by ANSI B30.16-1973, Overhead Hoist, to determine that; a)All controls and operating mechanisms for improper operations; daily. b)All safety devices for malfunctions; daily. c)Deterioration or leakage in air systems. d)Hooks for deformations, chemical damage, or cracks. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
