Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling: (a) Location - Second floor, near main entrance: On or about 12/3/01, an employee was exposed to a fall of more than seven feet from a scissor lift platform. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable, to correct this hazard, include but are not limited to: a) Conduct training on the safe use of the scissors lift as per manufacturer's operating instructions; b) Utilize the midrail chain provided as part of the guard rail system of the scissor lifts, as per manufacturer's operating instructions, as specified by ANSI/SIA A92.6-1990, American National Standard for Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms.
