employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of falling from the back of a moving golf cart
while in a standing
on the bag storage area.
(a) Location - Golf Course Grounds:
On or about 07/12/02, employees were exposed to a fall hazard while riding
in the rear
bag storage area of a golf cart..
Feasible abatement methods include but are not limited to the following:
1. Ensure all employees are trained in the manufacturers operating
procedure for the safe
use of golf cars, to ensure that only two employees are allowed to ride in
the golf car
and that each employee keep their entire body in the car, and remain
seated.
2. Ensure authorized employees operate the golf car, from the drivers side
only, and in
designated areas. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation that only
employees who
possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license be allowed to operate golf
cars.
