Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to suspended loads held by overhead hoists in that the load was not adequately secured by the hook with a safety latch attached: a)East side of plant; Employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by falling loads, such as large sections of metal, by using the overhead electric Yale 2 Ton hoist. The safety latch on the load hook was missing. One method of abatement, among others, would be to install a safety latch on the existing hook or install a new load hook with a safety latch attached as required by ANSI B30.16-1. **Abatement documentation required for this item**
