Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling: (a) Location - Melvin Street, Lawrence, MA: On or about 08/13/02, employees were exposed to serious fall hazards of up to 28 feet while climbing out of a scissors lift to access the roof. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable, to correct this hazard, include but not limited to: a) Access the roof tops by means of the roof hatches installed at the stairwells. b) Utilize operating instructions as specified by ANSI/SIA A92.6-1990 for self propelled elevating work platforms.
