North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)washing department - an overhead crane with underhung hoist used for lifting heavy farm and construction parts and equipment was equipped with a hook that had a missing latch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to replace the missing latch on the hook. (Reference: American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Overhead Hoists (Underhung), ASME B30.16-1.2.9 (Hooks) 1993)

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)washing department - an overhead crane with underhung hoist used for lifting heavy farm and construction equipment and parts, was equipped with a hook that had a missing latch and had not been inspected frequently. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard, would be to perform frequent inspections of the hook for the overhead, underhung hoist. (Reference: American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Overhead Hoists (Underhung), ASME B30.16-1.2.2(c)(6) (Frequent Inspection) 1993)
