Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to improperly working equipment: a) Bethlehem Lukens Plate, Coatesville, PA - The company did not adequately prevent the use of the Clearing 5000-ton press (Model # HW-5000-210) after it became known that the east buggy control handle was not working properly. "Among other methods, one feasible and accepted means of abatement would be to take all improperly working equipment out of service. Temporary measures should be implemented including, but not limited to, posting of signs, barricading and/or other restrictive devices which prevent the operation of the equipment. NOTE: ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
