Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being hit by an overloaded floor which has the potential to collapse: Warehouse Building - A mezzanine floor was being overloaded with equipment, causing the floor to bow, exposing employees to serious hazards in the event the floor collapsed. Observed on or about November 14, 2000. Feasible and acceptable methods of abatement are as follows: (a) Remove the massive equipment being stored on the mezzanine, and disassemble the mezzanine floor. (b) Isolate the area and eliminate employee exposure. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
