Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards from overhead materials: (a) Glass Fabrication Department - Employees were operating an overhead crane with a spreader bar fabricated by the employer, with no design specifications or load ratings in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B30.20-1993 standard "Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices." Hazard of being struck by overhead glass or equipment. One feasible abatement method would be to follow the operational and rated load testing requirements set forth in ASME Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices Standard B30.20. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION
